If you are on a mission to lose weight, you understand that every little bit helps. Not only does every little bit of weight you lose benefit your health in one way or another, every little advantage you can take that might increase your weight loss is also a good thing. The timing of your workout is one such advantage. This article explains the findings of a British study that resulted in a recommendation to do your daily fitness workout before you eat the first meal of the day.
This study found those who choose to do their workouts on an empty stomach before breakfast lost more weight than those who exercised later in the day after fueling the body with snacks or meals. If you stop to think about it, exercising before breakfast makes perfect sense and it is easy to understand why you might lose more weight that way. Exercise forces your body to use stored energy in order to move at higher intensity levels. If you exercise when you have food in your stomach, your body first looks to that food as an energy source before looking elsewhere. But if your stomach is empty, your body moves on to using stored fat cells to fuel the workout resulting in…more weight loss, of course!
